Getting to Nah Ha
Getting to Cozumel and Nah Ha 602 is easy from either the Cozumel or Cancun airport. While there are only three turns from the Cozumel airport to Nah Ha, we will provide you detailed maps prior to your arrival.
From the Cozumel Airport by Rental Car
Drive straight out of the airport parking lot to the main street (south).
You will enter a traffic circle. Take an immediate right onto Avenida Carlos Gonzalez.
This is a divided street and you will be heading west, straight to the ocean.
The road will dead end into the ocean after about ½ mile at Avenida Rafael Melgar. Take
a right onto Melgar. Follow this street for about 1.25 miles.
You will go past the naval barracks and an old propeller fighter plane display on your right.
The road will curve to the left as you go past the marina and the lighthouse located on your left.
The road will then curve to the right again. Go about 1/4 of a mile and we are on the left,
to the right of Miramar and to the left of Marazul. Park in the numbered space in
front of the building. If the paved road ends, you have gone too far.
Check out the section below on rental cars.
From the Cozumel Airport by Shuttle Van
Once you exit the customs area, you will see a ticket booth/window to the left, about 5 yards away. This is where you buy your tickets for the van (and what is called the “North Hotel Zone”). The cost of the government regulated shuttle van is about $8.00 pp and is distance dependant. Nah Ha is one of the closest locations from the airport. Taxis are not allowed to make pickups at the airport--only drop-offs. (If your group is traveling light and wishes to walk 200 yards, follow the oval service road to the traffic circle just outside the airport. You can catch cabs there for much less than the price of an airport van or about $5 for two people. Cabs are continually leaving the airport and your wait is 1-3 minutes.) Ignore the people holding signs that say something to the effect of "information". They are timeshare salesmen.
From Cancun by Playa Del Carmen's Shuttle Bus
Getting to Nah Ha from the Cancun airport is also easy. Walk out of Terminal 2 and turn right. Walk to the end of the terminal and look to your left. You will see where the buses arrive and depart. Most of the time, a “sky cap” will be outside the terminal with a sign that says Playa del Carmen. He will sell you a ticket on the spot and carry your bags for you. The buses may or may not be there yet. Just wait. One bus goes to the Playa Bus station on Juarez and 5th Streets and the other goes to the Cancun bus station. Both are clearly labeled. The price of the bus to Playa is about $65 pesos or $6 US. The price to the Cancun bus station is $15 pesos. You can also buy your ticket at the bus. If you arrive at Terminal 1, there is a free shuttle to take you to Terminal 2.
When you arrive in Playa del Carmen, simply walk from the bus station down the hill and towards the ocean (East), bear right 1.5 blocks (South) and you will see the ferry pier. There are two ferry companies. Pick the one that leaves the soonest, buy a one-way ticket and take the ferry to Cozumel. Porters on the boat will stow your luggage and return it to you on the island’s pier. Simply walk off the pier and catch a cab heading North (to your left if your back is to the ocean).
Car Rentals
A car rental place we like is Rentadora Isis. They are located just one block from the waterfront and main ferry pier. Look for the yellow Isis sign on Ave 5 North between The Stadium Bar and Zermatt Bakery. Old style convertible VW Bugs are $35/day with insurance.
All major rental companies are found at the airport as well including:
Avis, Hertz, Executive and Thrifty. Cars they carry vary from small sedans to Jeeps to large vans.
